Abstract

Cordless handsets allow a user to make and receive calls anywhere within the range of the base stations. The base stations provide the low power cellular radio communications to the cordless handsets. The performance of the cordless equipment should be monitored to ensure that calls are not being lost. Any lost calls could result in loss of business. This paper highlights the limitations of local monitoring. It explores some examples of remote monitoring connected with network management and rail transportation to see whether the technologies used can enhance the collection of cordless statistics on Hicom. It successfully combines technologies from the different examples to control the collection of cordless statistics on the remote telecommunication equipment. It uses a well-established client-server technology in a new way. It does not u
