| Description: | As part of Nottingham Trent University's 170 Years of Art and Design event series, the exhibition celebrated the transformational role played by Nottingham in the growth of the knitting industry and embraced the future of knit technology. The exhibition showcased the global reach of knitting by representing leading designers as well as local historical refernces of archive pieces. It was created and co-curated by Ian McInnes and Catherine Challender. The text for the exhibition catalogue was written by Dr Vanessa Brown.The exhibition culminated in a symposium led by the eminent writer and commentator on the subject, Dr Jessica Hemmings. Ian McInnes showcased his current research practice in the exhibition alongside several other NTU staff colleagues. This is highlighted in the exhibition catalogue. The exhibition attracted a record number of visitors and a Schools competition and photocall activity generated significant media coverage and outreach activity. | ||||||||||||||||
