Abstract

Looking in detail at what has been built in recent years in Rome with regard to residential construction, we can notice an impressive sequence of buildings-clones of themselves, a situation so embarrassing that it suggests alarming hypotheses: the architects have definitively abdicated their professionalism maximizing profits as would a corporation, at the expense of what they are paid for? This would mean that the design operation has been reduced to the mere use of the recent culture of "copy and paste", where pieces of houses or entire buildings are reproduced - thanks to CAD - in an infinite series of specimens identical to themselves or which are they differ at the most for the planimetric extension and the color of the facades. The research is focused on Ponte di Nona district in Rome, which is, like other districts under construction in Rome, a real sample of this type of "cloned" architecture.
