Description: These data were generated during a project of the same title, funded by the UK Literary Association. The study involved five families. The dataset contains 11 anonymised transcripts of interviews with parents/ carers of children identified as having 'learning disabilities' that took place between April and July 2021 in two stages at the beginning and end of the study. Six transcripts from initial, or opening, interviews explore family perspectives on the meaning of literacy for children with learning difficulties. Five closing interviews explore family perspectives on the story writing App on iPad used by the child in the study. Video elicitation is used so parents watch videos of their child using the App mid-interview and then comment on it. For ethical reasons the videos and reflexive journals produced by families cannot be archived or shared.
