Abstract

This paper presents findings from a Nottingham Trent University research project on the function of a warm space at St Ann’s Advice centre and reflects how local civil society has responded to austerity and associated vulnerability and the limitations of this.
It explores the role of civil society in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham in responding to fuel poverty
The research revealed the importance of the warm space to the community; its success was built on the consolidation of existing social connections and the forging of new ones.
