Abstract
How can HEIs leverage the knowledge of cultural differences to improve the quality of services and overall student experience?
This session bridges theory and practice by discussing research findings that demonstrate how individual cultural backgrounds based on Hofstede’s dimensions directly affect what students expect from HEIs. Attendees will gain practical insights into how these differences can be operationalized to improve service delivery and student satisfaction.
The session will include an interactive roundtable segment where participants will map out the cultural profiles of their international students using Hofstede dimensions like Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance, and Long-Term Orientation.
The objective is to generate actionable insights for immediate implementation. The roundtable findings will be presented in a gallery walk format, followed by a synthesis of practical recommendations for enhancing service quality based on cultural understanding.
The session will conclude with a discussion between practitioners and researchers on how to implement this cultural profiling as a standard practice, either prior to or upon students' arrival, to provide a more tailored and satisfying educational experience.
