Abstract

This report examines the efficacy of Conductive Education for children with a range of disabilities who access support though Conductive Education at one service provider.

The first part of the report provides an overview of the service and the context of the service evaluation. The second part of the report is a critical literature review which considers Conductive Education as a specific intervention for children with intellectual and physical disabilities, and their families. The third part of the report comprises documentary analysis of policies and procedures and interviews with staff. Measures of the gains to be made through Conductive Education as an intervention are identified. Further work is recommended to develop valid and sensitive measurements for psychosocial and school participation developments made through Conductive Education as an intervention for children with a range of disabilities.

The report concludes with recommendations for pragmatic and beneficial adjustments to the service provision.
