Abstract

This paper presents our position for designing an intelligent agent-based framework for open-access to traffic telematics applications. The problem with mo1 84233 088 8st existing traffic telematics service infrastructures is that they employ rigid, inflexible data processing algorithms, where user requests are either served with pre-programmed answers or not at all. Moreover, existing services are accessed using proprietary access interfaces, which require the application developer to have a detailed prior knowledge of services implementation details, and makes using a number of these heterogeneous services collectively a cumbersome task. To address these problems we suggest that the decoupled services and user applications are dynamically bridged by intelligent agents that can dynamically wrap existing services with query logic and dynamically customize the way that results and requests are mediated to/from the user end. Our solution is based on using a combination of stationary agents that are permanently
