Abstract

In this series of six workshops, local stakeholders across the Mid-Nottinghamshire region came together to learn about the insights gained from NTU's evaluation of the Inspiring Ashfield initiative, as well as discuss these insights with the researchers and representatives from Community & Voluntary Services (CVSs) and other local community organisations.

1. The first workshop was focused on explaining what worked, what didn’t work, and providing some surface-level findings of the Inspiring Ashfield Initiative. This included some findings from both quantitative and qualitative work conducted

2. In the second workshop, both the successes of, and the challenges that arise during, Inspiring Ashfield were presented.

3. The third workshop dug deeper into the findings of the initiative, describing the statistical models that showed specific evidence for the role of both neighbourhood identity and group type diversity on wellbeing. Some information on the barriers to uptake found in the qualitative interviews was also provided.

4. The fourth workshop discussed the novel approach to needs scoping utilised by Ashfield Voluntary Action, 'Assertive Outreach'. The approach targets members of the community who may have fallen through the cracks of tradition scoping methods.

5. The fifth workshop was dedicated to explaining to local stakeholders what the advantages and disadvantages are of using different types of evaluation methods for their projects.

6. The final workshop was provided by an AVA member discussing potential funding sources, and funding sustainability for local third-sector organisations.
