Documentary synopsis: The Kosova war had a devastating effect on the whole population, especially on the communities where severe atrocities took place. Krusha e Madhe was one community where a two-day massacre took place in March 1999, and where over 250 members of the community were killed or abducted. Half of those abducted are still missing and the families continue to fight for justice. The film documents the story of the massacre through 13 interviews with survivors. The documentary tells the story of the massacre and survival in the first half, and then moves on to the accounts on fight for justice and survival in the aftermath. The documentary present traumatic and distressing accounts relating to the war and the aftermath.
The documentary itself is 58 minutes and is produced and directed with the help of a Kosova organisation for Missing people, the accounts of the 13 survivors and collaboration with academics and Kosova director Gazmend Bajri. The documentary was awarded ‘Outstanding Achievement’ from the Scandinavian Film Festival in 2023.
