Abstract

Academic publishing remains a daunting prospect for many in the nursing and midwifery professions, particularly students, early career researchers and practitioners. Yet the ability to articulate ideas, share innovations, and contribute to the profession's knowledge base through publication represents far more than a credential-building exercise—it constitutes a fundamental aspect of our professional identity and responsibility. This editorial argues for reconceptualising publication as an integral component of nursing and midwifery leadership and calls upon established academics to actively mentor those beginning their publication journey.
