Abstract

Richard Machin is an Associate Professor in Social Policy specialising in social security, poverty and financial wellbeing. Recent research has focused on the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, Personal Independence Payment and debt and financial capability for prisoners and ex-offenders. His COVID-19 research explores financial support available to vulnerable groups and local government experience of managing the pandemic. Before moving into academia he managed a local authority welfare rights service.
The policy analysis completed by Richard Machin focuses on the impact of welfare reform on marginalised groups, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and poverty and financial inclusion.
