Abstract

BREXIT situation followed by COVID-19 pandemic outbreak made quite a lot of disruptions to the food supply chains in the UK. This study investigates the disruption risks faced by UK food industry because of Brexit and COVID-19 pandemic and outlines the mitigation strategies. We used a qualitative, multiple case study methodology to collect data from three different companies with five respondents in the UK food industry. The findings show labour availability, raw material availability, transport disruptions and demand volatility as the major disruption risks. The study proposes several strategies that practitioners in this sector can adopt to improve resilience in a geopolitical and pandemic situation.
