Abstract
How has psychology education changed in the UK over the past decade? As we await the new QAA subject benchmark, due in summer 2023, we can expect a growing emphasis on psychological literacy, the ability to apply psychology to personal, professional, and societal domains, within our degree programmes. We can expect the new benchmark to require psychology degrees to teach students about inclusion and social justice, to take decolonial perspectives, to address employability and entrepreneurship, and to consider how we can apply psychology to create a sustainable world. In this talk, I explore how we’ve been working towards this over recent years, and what we need, as educators, to do in order to rise to the challenges of delivering psychological literacy. In doing so, we can hope to offer our students a more inclusive educational experience, and to ‘future proof’ our graduates in the context of a changing world.
